AexionQ is led by Donal O'Keeffe and Micheal King. The disciplines a project needs are delivered by specialist firms — multiple partners under each discipline — contracted in and coordinated by Aexion for each commission.
Donal is the founder and Managing Director of Aexion Quantum Limited, and the Framework Manager on Aexion's framework appointments. He is also Managing Director of FCC Fire Cert Ltd, the long-standing fire safety practice that sits within the consortium.
A senior fire engineer with more than thirty years' experience, Donal is particularly experienced in active and passive fire protection and at the interface between architecture and engineering. He is working with the HSE on a national specification for fire detection & alarm and emergency lighting systems for acute and complex sites, and routinely acts as contract manager and client liaison on HSE commissions.
On Aexion appointments, Donal acts as the main point of contact for the contracting authority for the duration of the framework, with authority to deal with all matters in relation to the contract.
Micheal is a co-founder and Director of AexionQ, where he leads design team coordination and acts as contract administrator and H&S coordinator across the firm's commissions.
Results-orientated and self-motivated, Micheal has more than twenty years in senior management — working closely with the CEOs, MDs and boards of construction and service-management companies, with a particular emphasis on large electrical upgrade programmes. His experience spans manufacturing, technology, residential infrastructure and healthcare projects in Ireland and internationally, covering inception, design and construction through commissioning, validation and into operations.
Micheal has a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget. He is a highly articulate and effective technical communicator with strong team-building and interpersonal skills.

Fire strategy, active & passive systems design, BCAR ancillary certifier (fire) and third-party verification.
Cost planning, bill of quantities, procurement, contract preparation, tender and payment certification.
Health & safety coordination in design and construction across the project lifecycle.
Inspection, certification and the BCAR document trail through to a grant the certifier can accept.
Document control and information management to the client's Exchange Information Requirements (EIR).

The model is deliberately open — we engage the right firm for each project, and bring in additional specialists (BIM, acoustic, environmental, planning and cost-management consultants, and so on) where a brief requires.
